About
Mike Borchard
Mike is a photographer and raconteur born and raised along the coast of Southern California. Drawing inspiration from spearfishing, surfing, and other outdoor exploits, he has a knack for creating imagery that extolls the true feeling of people and places. He's drawn to stories with deep characters: the more grit, the better.
His images are heavily influenced from real life experiences and friends met along the way; the rare times when Mike isn’t chasing images and stories with a camera, he’s out living the stories he photographs. You might find him on a knife-edge ridge in the Ko'olau Range or 100ft underwater on a single breath.
Mike’s assignment work primarily focuses on lifestyle and travel imagery, with a healthy dose of portraiture in the mix. He's just as comfortable shooting on fully produced sets as he is working way off-grid with just an idea and a camera.
Currently, Mike splits his time between California & Hawaii. His favorite food is grilled Yellowtail, and his favorite pictures to make are portraits. He is available for assignment anywhere in the world.
